Workshops & Events

We run regular consultations and workshops to allow us to obtain our stakeholder’s views. We want opinions on topics such as investment priorities, measures we use to ensure we are delivering our promises, timescales for business changes and improvements to our working practices.

Around 17% of a typical household electricity bill is paid indirectly to us so we can distribute power to our customers. We are currently consulting on our next Business Plan that will run from 2023-2028 and we'd love to hear from you.

Our current Business Plan, which was built with the help of stakeholders, sets out our investment plans for 2015-2023. For more detail on our engagement methods, a summary of stakeholder views and how we addressed this feedback in our plans click here.

Recent Stakeholder Workshops

At the start of each year we host a series of workshops across our four distribution areas; South Wales, South West, East & West Midlands to talk to our stakeholders about their opinions on our current work or our upcoming plans.

The feedback we collect is invaluable to help shape our thinking on a number of long-term, strategic challenges facing electricity networks. As you may be aware, we are currently part-way through our current business plan period (RIIO-ED1), which runs until 2023. The workshops provide an opportunity for stakeholders to critically evaluate how we are performing, as well as to discuss priorities for the future, including the next business plan period (RIIO-ED2).

We recently held workshops throughout February 2020. You can now view the presentations and reports from the day.

Connections Workshop

On 6 November 2019, we hosted a connections stakeholder workshop to seek feedback from stakeholders on the following topics: the connections process and WPD’s Business Plan priorities (2023–2028); facilitating electric vehicles and other low-carbon technologies; how the electricity network can support the growth in housing, infrastructure and commercial developments; and how different sectors can work better together.

Social Obligations Workshop

On the 23rd October 2019, we held a stakeholder workshop on our social obligations programme. The purpose was to inform stakeholders about the company’s current and future programme, and to get feedback on our activities. Attendees included local authorities, emergency services and non-profit organisations / charities.
